RENÉ ROMERO SCHULERRené Romero Schuler is an American painter and sculptor whose work explores the strength, complexity, and beauty of femininity. Her figures—bold, textured, and emotive—offer a powerful vision of womanhood that transcends convention, reflecting both resilience and vulnerability. Deeply rooted in her personal experiences, Schuler’s art is a visual narrative of healing and empowerment.
Born in Chicago, Schuler spent part of her childhood in Ecuador before returning to a difficult home life in the city’s north side. She left home as a teenager, finding refuge and purpose in her lifelong talent for creating art. A self-taught artist, she built a successful career in commissioned design work while continuing her fine art practice, using painting and sculpture as a means of personal expression and transformation. Schuler’s work has been exhibited widely in the U.S. and internationally, including shows in France, Italy, Greece, Singapore, and Lebanon. Her art is part of permanent collections such as Loyola University Museum of Art (LUMA), Coral Springs Museum of Art, and the Union League Club of Chicago. She is currently represented by galleries in the U.S. and France. Her published books include René Romero Schuler: Life and Works (2013), Paintings (2016), René Romero Schuler (2019), and Ladies (2023). |
