Neil Goodman is an acclaimed American sculptor whose work bridges the realms of abstraction and representation, exploring the beauty of form and the interplay of light, space, and material. Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Goodman was influenced by the city’s architectural heritage and its dynamic urban environment, themes that resonate in his artistic practice.
Goodman earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and went on to complete his Master of Fine Arts at the Tyler School of Art at Temple University in Philadelphia. These formative years laid the foundation for his unique sculptural language, characterized by his meticulous craftsmanship. Throughout his career, Goodman has exhibited his sculptures in numerous prestigious venues across the United States. Notably, his work was featured in the seminal 1995 exhibition "Art in Chicago 1945-1995" at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, which highlighted significant contributions to the city's art scene. He has also held solo exhibitions at institutions such as the Brauer Museum of Art at Valparaiso University, the Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park at Governors State University in University Park, Illinois, and the Museum of Outdoor Arts in Englewood, Colorado, which hosted a retrospective of his work spanning four decades in 2018. Goodman’s contributions extend beyond his studio practice.
