Michael Nakoneczny (born 1952) is an American multi-disciplinary artist. He grew up in Detroit, MI and received his MFA from the University of Cincinnati and BFA from Cleveland State University. He later moved to Chicago, IL where he resided for more than 20 years. Nakoneczny was a professor at the University of Alaska in Fairbanks, AK where he taught painting until 2015. He has received numerous awards including a Rasmuson Foundation Grant, Illinois Art Council Fellowship and an Arts Midwest/NEA Regional Fellowship. He currently lives and works in Richmond, VA.
