Herman Aguirre is a Mexican American artist born and raised in Chicago, IL. He grew up in the Southside of Chicago where he continues to live and work. He received his BFA and MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He recently was one of eight individuals to be awarded a $50,000 Leonore Annenberg Fellowship for Performing and Visual Arts. He was a fellow at the Fine Arts Work Center (FAWC) residency in Provincetown MA were he also taught youth programs at the Provincetown Art Association Museum (PAAM). In addition, he is represented by Zolla/Lieberman Gallery in Chicago and Portrait Society Gallery in Milwaukee, while continuing to exhibit in various galleries and art fairs throughout the United States.
