"In my paintings, I examine systems of visual and verbal language. Occasionally I include words broken down into grids, which slow, complicate, and extend reading and understanding.
They also serve to highlight the visual nature of the words themselves. I try to engage and resist visual conventional oppositions between words and images, ideas and feelings, minds and bodies.
Experiencing beauty requires immersions in systems of language and meaning. Just as my paintings strive to examine and blur boundries between words and images, they seek to provoke and interrogate our conceptual and aesthetic responses."
